We left Odessa today but before we did we had a pizza get together last night with a lot of the bunch we came to see. It was great to see my cousins again and to meet some of their kids and grandkids. Then this morning we headed out for Las Cruces, NM where we will stay until Monday morning and then head to Apache Junction, AZ. So far the weather is starting to warm up but still not gonna put my bikini on!!!! Ha Ha!!
My Uncle Bob, Aunt Eveline and myself. He is one of mom's two brothers that are still with us.
My cousin Bob and his wife Carla.....haven't seen them in 30+ years, so it was nice to visit a while....and we managed to get one of all of us that were there....my 3 cousins, their wifes, a few of their kids and grandkids. Thanks all of you for taking time out of your busy schedules to spend it with us....we really enjoyed our visit.....and look what we brought you....SNOW and BELOW freezing temps!!! How soon do you want us to come back? :-)
This is my Aunt Ruby and Uncle Claude's house they use to live in in Crane, TX. I have so many memories of the house that I really wanted a pic of it so we drove over, found it an snapped a pic.....
then we found the cemetery and walked up and down countless rows trying to find where they were buried, it was 26 out and windy but Paul helped. He saw a groundskeeper and asked her if there were records of where they would be buried and she said "that's my job" and told him exactly where to go and infact ended up walking there with us. She knew my uncle and his family, small world considering they've both been gone quite some time!! Ruby's doesn't have the death date on it yet, gonna have to get on her son to get that done, but I think she's been gone at least 10 years.
This is the pool at our campground in Odessa....it's froze....Paul thought solid......brrrrr!!
Uncle Bob said they sure didn't have icicles in Odessa very often
On the road again......to Las Cruces, NM
church here in the little old town of Mesilla....they still have all the adobe buildings....
This is supposedly the building in which Billy the Kid was tried and found guilty....but later escaped......now it's a gift shop.....at least it's not a parking lot.....
these are all little shops in the old town....we'll go down tomorrow afternoon BEFORE the Super Bowl and check some more of them out....
the sun was shining on this mountain range as we were leaving the old town but it doesn't do the beauty of it justice in this pic.....
Will explore some more areas tomorrow for a while before we glue ourselves to the tv for the big game....gonna miss our annual Super Bowl party with the all the kids and grandkids.....we always have such fun filling out G'pa's silly game and seeing who comes out the big winner. Think Lorie has figured out a way we can still do that even though we aren't there with them. May the best team win......Blessings!!
