Mission Accomplished

Our trip started out with a little stop along the way.....to get out of the semis way if nothing else!!  Neat candle shop recommended to me by my good friend, Glenda.

Cute little shop next to the candle store...

Next morning was the stop in Pittsburgh and the cemetery....thanks to the GPS, we were able to locate it with no problem..

Found his Grandmother's grave..

Laid Jack to rest with his Mom....

Paul had never been to his Grandfather's grave so we found it also....they were in completely different sections, but thanks to the office.....they directed us to the section and after walking around and the help of a groundskeeper, we found Alvin!

Cemetery Office....beautiful old building....the doors were about 3" thick, built like a castle.

A very beautiful cemetery.....

strangest headstone I've EVER seen.....if you zoom in you can see heads peaking out of different areas.....rather demonic to me.....do not like it....at all!!

Spent the rest of the day sightseeing.  Rode this tram up to the top of the mountain (or hill)....the view was spectacular.  Just wish it had been a little sunnier out.

You got it....I'm not looking out!!!

A water park below....

The Steelers 3-River Stadium....

Liberty Bridge....

3 - Rivers Stadium....

PNC Park where the Pirates play...

and yet another bridge....they have them about every 5 miles I think....you're always crossing water!!

PPG Building.....with the steeple points....

3 Rivers joining....

First Lutheran Church right in the heart of the city....looked rather out of place among the tall buildings...

The "Strip" in historic area..

Had a really good steak and cheese at this market.....the smells drew us in....oh the breads!!!

Trees were really just starting to change in the area....another week or 2 and it will be beautiful out there...

AND OF COURSE.....what is a trip without finding a Quilt Shop......well I found one....really nice shop......if only it were closer....

Well, our mission was to lay Jack to rest, and that was accomplished.  He is no longer living in a box in our garage.  We did manage to enjoy a day or 2 out there and were glad to be home.  I DO NOT recommend I70 to anyone going East.......a very stressful trip this was as far as the ride.  If ever we go again, it'll be by a different route!!!  You may not hear from me again until AZ, but you never know.
